QuickWitz Date: Tuesdays in February Time: 3:30 PM Location: Burges Center Board Room Detail:QuickWitz,is a mental fitness program designed to maximize mental ability in midlife and beyond. QuickWitz is composed of hands-on, fun, and interactive activities designed to help the aging brain get sharp and stay sharp. A QuickWitz coach delivers multi-level activities specifically designed to target the skills most commonly impacted by aging. Safely Walking With Your Dog Date: Friday, February 10 Time: 2:00 pm Location: Rodenberg Hall Details: Cynthia King, trainer for Southeastern Therapy Animal Resources (STAR), is going to present a 30 minute program demonstrating the proper and safe manner in taking your dog for a short walk or an outing in the country. The workshop is complimentary and residents are encouraged to attend with their dogs on a leash.
Charleston Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Concert Date: Saturday, February 11 Time: 6:30 pm departure from the Burges Center Location: Gaillard Auditorium Details: This concert, held at Gaillard Auditorium, will feature violinist Yuriy Bekker playing a rare 1686 Stradivarius violin that is on loan to the Symphony for this one concert.The program for the concert includes Zoltan Kodaly's "Dances of Galanta", Edward Hart's "Under an Indigo Sky" and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.Tickets are $40.50 or $55.50 depending on your seat.
Yorktown Tour and Lunch Out Date: Monday, February 13 Time: 10:00 am departure from the Burges Center Details: Join us for an hour long tour of the Yorktown at Patriot's Point in Mt. *Music Matters Concert Date: Thursday, February 16 Time: 7:00 pm Location: Rodenberg Hall – Franke at Seaside Details: "Micah and Friends" Featuring Micah McLaurin, Charleston's teen-age piano prodigy, playing with other music conservatory-bound local high school musicians. The program will include a trio of piano and 2 violins, and harp and violins in solo and duet arrangements with Shannon Fitzhenry, Nicholas Bentz, and Abigail Kent.

Day Trip to Myrtle Beach Date: Saturday, February 26 Time: 1:00 pm departure from the Burges Center Details: Join us for a day trip to Myrtle Beach on Saturday, February 25, departing at 1:00 pm.We will stop at the Ocean Lakes Campground Recreation Center for the Quilt Exhibit where resident Mary Schall has her award winning quilt on display. Admission to the Quilt Exhibit is $5.00. Then we will go to Dolly Parton's "Pirates Voyage."The show includes dinner at an all inclusive cost of $43.59. We will be back at the Burges Center by 9:30 pm.

Tour of the Art Institute Culinary School & Lunch Date: Wednesday, February 29 Time: 10:30 am departure from the Burges Center Location: Downtown Charleston Details: The Art Institute of Charleston's new restaurant is a unique teaching dining room atmosphere that provides culinary students with real-world experience in food preparation and dining room management. Diners will choose from a menu which includes an appetizer, entree, dessert and beverage for $12.00. Prior to lunch a student will offer a tour of the Art Institute's main building which includes the student art gallery.
